North Johnstone 4 Day Adventure

The North Johnstone is a steep, natural flow river that carves its way through a spectacular volcanic gorge.

Limited frequency of departures, restricted group sizes and stringent National Park permits ensure that the North Johnstone River and surrounding ancient rainforests are preserved for all time, enabling our rafters a rare glimpse of a very precious and untouched part of North Queensland’s World Heritage Rainforests.
Our 4 Day Expedition is rated in the Top 10 wilderness adventures in the world, and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

From the exhilarating helicopter ride in, through 4 days of gigantic Grade 5 rapids, breathtaking scenery and unforgettable companions, to the serenity of camping 3 nights under the stars in riverside rainforest clearings, you’ll never experience anything like it.

 

Itinerary:

• Pre-trip orientation meeting the night before
• Breakfast at Mungalli Falls
• Helicopter in to the riverside
• Safety instruction by experienced river guides
• Raft the exhilarating rapids of the North Johnstone
• Marvel at unique geological formations
• Rest in riverside campsites 3 nights
• Relish the chance to explore waterfalls and adjacent creeks
• Return transfers from Cairns

 

Included:

• All transport including coach trip from Cairns
• Exciting helicopter flight
• All meals freshly prepared (please advise of special dietary requirements)
• All rafting and camping equipment (incl. inflatable mattresses, helmets, lifejackets and paddles)
• Sleeping bags and wetsuit hire available on request
• Comprehensive instruction on paddling techniques and safety procedures provided

 

Cost: $1400 + $100 Levy & national park fee

RnR provides all transport including an exciting helicopter flight as access to the river, all rafting and camping equipment.

All meals are supplied from Day 1 to afternoon tea on Day 4.

 

On request we can arrange wetsuit or sleeping bag hire.

You can bring your own Sleeping Bag or we can provide one at a cost.

 

Conditions: Subject to availability and weather conditions. An indemnity release form must be signed and the environmental levy paid when boarding. This trip is suitable for anyone aged 15+ with a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability.

 

What To Bring:

• A change of warm clothes
• Swimwear & towel
• Joggers/trainers, thongs/flip flops/sandals, rafting footwear
• Sunblock, insect repellent, personal toiletries
• Any medications required
• Sleeping bag

 

Space is limited so please keep personal gear to a bare minimum - pack only what is absolutely necessary, and please use a small bag.
